Could be - although I think with this and some other types, it may just be that more are being correctly diagnosed. In my aunt's case, she had so many other health problems that it was almost 'luck' (if you can call it that), that they found the tumor before she died. I know that pancreatitis can be very serious and sometimes fatal, so I wouldn't be surprised if some pancreatic cancers were misdiagnosed as pancreatitis in years past.

(Just my very humble opinion and deduction - I'd love to hear a doctor's opinion...)
