Tennessee's Mt. Rushmore? |
Lead | ||
|
ESPN is doing a "Mt. Rushmore" thing where they pick certain states' top four sports personalities. I don't think they're doing all the
states. Not sure. But who would be on our state's "Mt. Rushmore"? I would have to say that Gen. Neyland and Wilma Rudolph are locks. Probably
Pat, too. Any others come to mind?

they did all 50 states, then you had to vote, and they did the feature you saw on tv on the top 5. i'll see if I can find the list of all 50 states.

Summitt Rudolph Reggie Peyton I would have put the General first on the list obviously. On this list, in front of Reggie. |

Ward was not very good compared to other broadcasters around the nation.

Well, I said his influence on sports in this state was enormous. Why do you say that John was not as good as other broadcasters nationally? I
thought when he was in his prime, he was very good. He was not a candidate for national radio or TV, but he could describe a game -- especially basketball --
very well IMO.

John Ward is a living Tennessee legend. The fact that you think he is a "mediocre" broadcaster is the stupidest thing ever posted on the internet.
John Ward brought UT football alive every fucking time they played like no one ever has or ever will.
You are fucking pathetic. ( I ) Have the ability to call Mike Hamilton at any time and have him return my call- just as he is about to do TODAY with this Thigpen deal and my complaint.- AtlantaVol 1/30/09 I've already told you: the only way to a woman's heart is along the path of torment. Sorry Tux, but JW was the best radio BB announcer Ive ever heard | #20 | ||
|
He was amazing in describing where the ball was, who was passing to who and where they were on the court. He could talk very fast and describe things
accurately. If you could picture the court in your mind, you were basically watching it listening to John. I dont think he was as good in football (although
still good).
Some of the announcers today are horrible. Most of the time they are wrong about the score, who got the ball, etc. |
