Posts: 10374 02/20/09 15:38:19 Inventor of Sheep Trading Cards	It just dawned on me how ridiculous this whole process is when he have grown men hanging around a school for three hours and sending wittle text messages and posting them on a board. The the kid, who is probably not even going to qualify academically, drags the whole thing out for a short eternity. To wit: Kwame Geathers - 4 Star Class of 2009 DT - Decision is IN Dean Legge of the Dawg Post is covering this event live, he is relaying his reports to Scout's Chad Simmons, and I am posting their updates here: 2:32 PM Geathers put on UCF hat, but went with Georgia... still wearing UGA hat. Said he is going to Georgia 2:25 PM One news camera is there... Dean just cut me off and said he had to go, so we may be getting close... 2:22 PM Should get going soon... Team has come in now... Kwame has been pacing the halls, but he been out of the auditorium for about 10 minutes. 2:18 PM Still waiting... Dean thinks we could still be 15 minutes away... Kwame's dad is talking with people... UCF, UT, UGA hats are all on the table... Not sure what the hold up is, but the set up is ready... 2:07 PM It seems like he is about 5 minutes or so away, but nobody is sure right this second... 2:05 PM Mom is wearing red and black... Mom told Dean she is happy... Kwame has the papers of all three schools on the table, so he is going to be signing in front of everyone today. Kwame is still in the hallway, so we are still a few minutes away from the announcement. 2:00 PM The family is prety much all there, but none are wearing anything to give any hints of where Kwame could be going... Dean talked to the coach at Carvers Bay and he just said that the Geathers always do things at their own pace and this is nothing new. He said he thinks this time it really benefited Kwame too. Offense-Defense has a rep there to cover his as well. 1:53 PM Dean talked to Kwame... Holding a bag... Looks like he is going to put a shirt on... He is going to sign today. He had on a white shirt, boots, tie, khaki pants... Nobody is giving any hints... 1:40 PM People have really started to show up now... A few members of the family have arrived and all are wearing dark clothes, so nothing that would lead Dean to think UGA, UT, or UCF. Media outlets are starting to show up, but still no Kwame... He will likely enter right about 2pm. One media outlet asked Dean if Kwame was actually going to sign today... From what I heard earlier this week, that is a yes, but Dean said he will find out for sure after the PC. We are about 20 minutes away. 1:16 PM - Another teammate said he really does not know what Geathers is going to do... He said Kwame is not saying anything about it. When Dean asked him to guess, he guessed Tennessee. Kwame is still not around, but the football team is starting to gather. 12:57 PM Dean just talked to Kwame's cousin and asked him if he knew anything... Kwame's cousin said, "no, I don't know," while laughing. He went on to say that he really does not know what Kwame is going to do. He said Kwame has not talked about it, but he seemed nervous and excited about things today at school. We are about an hour away. 12:49 PM Things are moving along and Dean has talked to a couple of people already... One teacher there helping set everything up said the team will be in there, but that is about it. They have school and class will still be going on, so the whole school will not be in attendance. That same guy said this is a very big deal for Carvers Bay. 12:35 PM They are basically bringing in everything from the gym and using that as the set up for the PC. They have eight chairs set up on stage, so it looks like seven people will be up there with Kwame when he gets ready to announce his decision. 12:30 PM The time is set for 2pm today, so we will take up to that time as best as we can here on The Porch. Their is no internet connection or even cell phone signal inside Carvers Bay, so Dean is in the process of fuguring out the best way to cover this. We will make it happen for sure, so just hang in there. It is going to happen in the Auditorium and they have a table set up with three jerseys hanging from it... Dean said it looks like all Robert Geathers jerseys... It shows a Bengals, UGA, and Carvers Bay jersey. They also have a Carvers Bay helmet on display as well. More to come as we await Geathers' decision. 12:00 PM He is walking in the school now to talk with the A.D. and to see if he can find out any specifics. What Dean and I have both heard this morning is that the PC will be around 2pm. He is trying to confirm this now.

Posts: 10376 02/20/09 16:06:09 Inventor of Sheep Trading Cards	I realize some of these guys are legacies like Gaethers and Pete White, but what part of "You will have a legitimate chance to start as a freshman" do they not understand? And I totally agree with the comments concerning the late offer from Georgia. They should have been insulted and asked why he was not offered months ago. Tennessee has a brand new staff so that is a legitimate reason why they got in on some kids late, but Richt has no excuse other than the one that has been floated about the kid probably not making it academically. This reminds me of Petey Smith and Tana Patrick signing with Bammer. Smith knew that they already had the No. 2 rated middle linebacker in the country committed and Patrick knew that they started two freshmen at linebacker last season and they both still signed with the Tide. I don't blame Bama for taking them, but why would a kid turn his back on almost sure fire chance to hit a starting lineup his freshman year and face the possibility that he will have to play special teams for two years before getting his chance to shine on defense.
